Getting Started With EFT

  1. Name the issue you want to work on. For example: Pain in my back, anger towards my friend, uncertainty about what to do next…

Write the problem or issue down here ________________________

  1. Give it an intensity number on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 is no intensity at all and 10 is the worst it’s ever been.

Write the number down here_______________________________

  1. Start tapping on the side of your hand (see the diagram, either hand is okay, or tap the sides of your two hands together if you prefer) while saying aloud the following set-up statement:

Even though I have this…(insert the problem you wrote down in 1 above),

I accept that’s  where I am and how I feel.

Repeat this set-up statement twice more while continuing to tap on the side of your hand.eftpointsfinalrevision

  1. Tap around the points on the head and upper body, as shown in the diagram, while saying a short phrase that reminds you of the original problem: For example:

          This headache, or

         This anger, or

         This confusion

  1. When you have tapped around all the points, take a nice deep breath, and as you exhale, allow your body to relax.
  2. Check your number again. It may have gone up or down.

Write down the number here: ___________________________

  1. If you still have some intensity, in other words, greater than Zero, repeat the process again using the following set-up phrase:

Tapping on the Karate Chop spot, repeat three times:

Even though I still have some of this… (headache, anger, confusion etc),

I accept that’s where I am and how I feel.

And using the following reminder phrase, tap around the rest of the points:

This remaining… (anger, confusion, headache etc)

  1. Keep repeating the process until your intensity number comes right down, preferably to a Zero.
  2. Drink a glass of water during or after tapping to keep hydrated.
