Hello there! I’m Jude Fay, and I’m a practicing psychotherapist and counsellor at AnneLeigh Counselling & Psychotherapy, Naas and Celbridge, Co Kildare. I am also a Chartered Accountant. I support therapists who may love their client work, but struggle with the business side of their practices. My work includes both the practical business aspects of starting and developing a therapy practice, and also the emotional blocks and obstacles that stop us from making a living from our work.
I am also the author of “This Business of Therapy: A Practical Guide to Starting, Developing and Sustaining a Therapy Practice.” Available from Amazon: Click here.
If you are
- a nearly or newly qualified therapist starting your own private practice, or
- a therapist who is not new to private practice but finding it hard to earn enough or to manage the challenges of running your own practice,
then you are in the right place to get some support.
Therapists are trained to work with their clients, but get little or no direction about how to earn a living from their newly acquired skills. If you have little experience of self employment or running a business, you will need to develop new skills and a new mindset when you establish your private practice.
Establishing and developing a therapy practice is a process. Learning the skills of being self-employed takes time. It can be very overwhelming at first, and it can evoke old wounds and hurts from the past. We come to this work with the intention of helping those in need. Sometimes it can seem as if that objective is at odds with earning a reasonable living.
These are all areas where I can help. As an experienced psychotherapist with a well established practice, I bring my own knowledge in the field as well as previous practical experience in the accountancy profession to support new practitioners in those difficult early days. I can also help you to heal old money traumas and work with limiting values and beliefs that may get in the way of creating a viable practice.
At This Business of Therapy, I will help you to
- Create a clear picture of what you want from your practice
- Develop your identity as a practitioner
- Guide you in the right direction
- Find ways to make your practice more efficient, focused and profitable
- Prioritize actions that will bring you nearer to your objectives
- Give you the support you need to implement whatever changes you need to make
